More on Khan Academy

If you are already familiar with the Khan Academy, and “flipped classroom” ideas, not much new in this fairly long article. Though it does include more arguments against the Khan model than usual – so you skeptics might enjoy it!

If you are not familiar, this is an excellent summary of what the Khan Academy offers and some of the issues associated with the model.

Yes, Khan’s videos are plain and this article describes them as unsophicated and maybe a little boring. However, I see a great benefit to these videos for developing personalized learning in a flipped classroom environment.

What do you think of Khan Academy: boring or beneficial? Are they being used in your schools? If so, how are they adding to learning and student engagement?

    Thanks for sharing this article.

Khan’s videos are good but not the panacea for educational challenges. Everyone should know about them and have access to use them if they can help. I don’t think access to them means kids won’t need to take math in class and have face-to-face teachers, however.

Wesley – thanks for the comment. BTW: OK if I repost your July 23rd blog re: epiphany videos?
